Straightening and Cutting

The preponderance of products being produced at Col-fin begin as coiled hot rolled raw material. Nearly all of this raw material is processed through cleaning and coating, annealing and cold-drawing operations. In order to finish into bar form after cold-drawing, the material must be straightened and cut into bar lengths as specified by the customer.

Bars are checked for straightness using a dial indicator and are generally controlled to a tolerance of .002”/ft. max T.I.R. Controlling straightness is critical in facilitating secondary machining and forming operations.

Straightened and cut bars are available from sizes as small as 1/16” to 1-1/2”.  Straightening and cutting operations include multiple roll straightening, as well as the rotary arbor process.
